About Me

Lena is an international level rhythmic gymnast and a member of West London Gymnastics Elite Squad. She is also part of the British National Squad and well as being the current English Champion.

Lena’s journey to rhythmic gymnastics started when she was just 5 years old and it wasn’t long before she was selected from over 200 children for West London Gymnastics squad talent programme.

For those who are unfamiliar with this discipline, rhythmic gymnastics incorporates the use of apparatus such as hoop, ball, club, and ribbon. The athletes perform a choreographed routine to music, showcasing their skills in flexibility, balance, and coordination while also weaving in elements of artistry and expression. It’s a mesmerising sight to watch the gymnasts move with such grace while manipulating their apparatus in sync with the music.

But make no mistake, rhythmic gymnastics is not for the faint-hearted. It requires countless hours of practice, discipline, and determination to perfect the intricate movements and techniques involved.

It’s no secret that becoming a champion takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Lena is no stranger to this. She is currently training 25 hours per week, perfecting her routines and pushing herself to be the best she can be. Her coaches have praised her work ethic and her determination to succeed.

Lena is exceptionally talented and her long list of accomplishments proves it. With such an impressive resume, it’s clear that Lena has a bright future ahead of her in the world of gymnastics. Rachel Ennis, Director of West London Gymnastics comments: “At West London Gymnastics we have a history of producing elite athletes who have gone onto represent Great Britain and England at International tournaments, European and World Championships and Commonwealth Games. We are certain that Lena is the next rising star and are continuing to put all our efforts into developing her outstanding talent”.

The High Costs of Elite Level Sport

As incredible as it is to watch athletes like Lena perform, it’s important to remember the high costs associated with elite level sport. Rhythmic Gymnastics is a self-funded discipline meaning that although Lena represents the country, she is required to fund her training and competition expenses herself!

For Lena and her family, these expenses can be a real challenge. With 25 hours of training per week, she needs access to top-quality facilities, coaches and equipment. And when competitions come around, there are travel and accommodation costs to consider as well as entry fees. Additionally, Lena needs access to physiotherapy and nutrition support with the costs all adding up.

Unfortunately, without the generous support from sponsorships and fundraising, Lena will be unable to sustain the level that she is currently competing at. So here is where you can help Lena to continue on her journey and achieve her dreams!
